Sunday 28th July – Windsurf **** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and
hot.
Foil – 8.51 knot max , 5.62 knot ave, 0.34 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile,
12.14 km., 3.98 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Sailworks Retro
7.5.
We had a lovely morning at home in the garden, me doing my exercises while
Mag potters in the garden, being pretty hot and we have done a few miles
walking of late we were going to have a day off. HHA ( Landguard live wind)
was playing up again so after lunch I decided to head down to The Dip to
see if there was enough wind to foil. The onshore wind was gusting to 12
max and a winger was going just so I was tempted to head out with 7.5, I
had trouble rigging as my 4.90 mast got stuck:( I headed out thinking it
was too light and I was proved right, doing 4 runs out and not getting
close to flying, I should have tried the 8.5 as David Coles was going OK on
his race gear with 10m.I had to land at high water with next to no beach
and prefer The Manor end but would never have parked there today! I am not
a lover of marginal conditions sailing with big heavy sails and should have
gone out on the bike!
